August 12-13, 2008
The eighth annual Nebraska Grazing Conference will be held at the Kearney Holiday Inn. A panel of grazing managers will discuss how they have been adapting to high feed and fuel costs. Speakers from Kansas, Montana, and Nebraska will talk about marketing grass-fed beef, modifying animal behavior, and transitioning to organic production.

The Third Annual MarketPlace conference will be held at the Sandhills Convention Center in North Platte, Nebraska. This event, presented by the Center for Rural Affairs and our partners, is focused on strengthening small businesses and rural communities.

The Grain Place in Marquette, Nebraska, is hosting their annual summer tour and educational day. Tours take place in the morning, with speakers on organic farming in the afternoon. The lunch features locally and organically grown foods.

The Regional Revitalization through Community Development workshop, sponsored by the Nebraska Development Network - Central Region and South Central Economic Development District, will feature information about the Nebraska Community Development Assistance Act (CDAA), provide answers to common myths about ethanol production, and highlight several regional collaborative efforts in community development. It will be held in the Central City, Nebraska, Community Room.

The Food Processing Center at the University of Nebraska welcomes entrepreneurs from throughout the U.S. to any of their From Recipe to Reality seminars, a one-day seminar that provides entrepreneurs with an understanding of the key factors that need to be considered when starting a food manufacturing business. Materials are now available in Spanish.
