Rural America—once a part of your life, always a part of your life.
While many people can relate to this idea, Jack Dill knows this to be true from personal experience.
Growing up on a family farm in south central Nebraska, Jack was raised rural. After living in Nebraska’s largest city, Omaha, for 20 years, he’s now back to rural America, and resides outside of Fort Calhoun, on a small acreage.
Recently, he took on the role of data and evaluation manager at the Center for Rural Affairs—home of the unapologetically rural.
“The values imparted on me from my rural community are firmly rooted in who I am, and align perfectly with those of the Center for Rural Affairs,” said Jack. “That’s why I’m so glad to be part of a team committed to positively affecting the future of rural communities.”
Jack’s role on the Center team consists of administering and coordinating data management, software systems, and implementation of software. He also focuses on leveraging technology.
“A large part of my duties here involve working with data and systems to improve, accelerate, and evaluate organizational progress toward the Center’s mission,” he said. “I want to do what I can to help the organization evaluate data, systems, and processes in ways that will lead to proactive problem solving and informed decision making.”
Jack’s background in the nonprofit world makes him a fit for his new role.
“I've spent much of my professional career working with nonprofit organizations on various technology and marketing related initiatives.” he said. “I'm often the one called on to help bridge the gap that can exist between business and technology to keep projects moving in a positive direction.”
When Jack isn’t busy diving into data analysis at the Center, he and his wife, Michelle, and their daughter, Ali, like to play in their garden. The family also dedicates their time to continuing development of a small granola company they founded together in 2013, called BigGreenTomato.com.
