Farm and Food

About: Are you a military veteran interested in agriculture? Join us as we visit different U-Pick Farms through our 11-session series that will rotate between online classroom sessions and on-farm sessions with an online option.

In our classroom sessions, participants will visit actual U-Pick farms and hear from experienced farmers and farm leaders in agritourism about the ins and outs of a U-Pick operation, how they have it set up, their experiences, and challenges they have faced.

Session topics will include how to obtain the proper equipment, maintenance of adequate facilities, how to set up purchasing systems, and more.

Cost: Free for active military service members and military veterans.

Participant stipends are available to cover approved expenses such as travel, meals, and child care. Individuals are welcome to attend with family members. For on-farm events, physical accommodations may be made upon request.
