Dyersville, IA - The Center for Rural Affairs along with Iowa Interfaith Power and Light,  Environmental Law & Policy Center, and Young Evangelicals for Climate Action will host a forum about the intersection between faith, climate change, and agriculture on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Vogel Community Room in the Learning Commons at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.

The forum will feature a panel of speakers including:
Dr. Laura Furlong, Professor of Biology at Northwestern College
Dr. Gene Takle, Director of the Climate Science Program at Iowa State University
Dr. Ron Vos, Professor of Agriculture Emeritus at Dordt College and long-time farmer
Rev. Joan Fumetti, retired United Church of Christ clergy and former Foods Resource Bank staff.

Panelists will focus on how climate change is impacting agriculture in Iowa, how farmers are mitigating and adapting to climate change, and share why this issue is important to them and how their faith calls them to respond.

“In Iowa, farmers will be some of the hardest hit by climate change. But they can also take steps to reduce the risk from climate change - to protect the younger generations from food insecurity and to steward the land for the next generation,” says Stephanie Enloe of the Center for Rural Affairs. “The question of whether to act on climate change is a moral one, and Midwestern farmers are increasingly called to answer.”
