Lyons, NE - The Center for Rural Affairs has partnered with the Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition, Sandhills Task Force, and Audubon Nebraska for a summer grazing tour on June 14 in the Nebraska Sandhills near Thedford, Nebraska. The event will bring ranchers and bird enthusiasts together to learn more about successful grazing practices, Sandhill ranch heritage, indigenous and migratory birds, and wildlife habitat.
"Utilizing proper grazing strategies in the Sandhills provides profits for ranch businesses and increases wildlife habitat, as well as water quantity and quality in the region. It's really a win-win," said Becky Keim, Project Organizer with the Center for Rural Affairs. "This event is a great opportunity for ranchers and birding enthusiasts to jointly learn more about the various aspects of conservation and ranching in the Sandhills from experts in the field."
The full day event will kick off with an optional birding route, followed by registration and breakfast, three ranch visits, and an evening banquet with a special guest speaker. Ranch stops include the Eatinger Ranch, Hamilton Ranch, and the Dailey Angus Ranch.
