About: Heartland Environmental Justice Center (HEJC) is hosting a series of webinars in October focused on building community power and increasing participation in environmental decision-making.

Join us to learn about civic engagement strategies, opportunities to make progress on environmental justice challenges, and tools to advocate for community resources.

Webinars:

  • Activating the Federal Government for the Midwest (Tuesday, Oct. 1)
    Explore how your community or organization can effectively engage the federal government to unlock the full spectrum of support and services.
  • Environmental Justice in Rural Communities: Tools to Engage in Rural Policy (Thursday, Oct. 17)
    Learn how environment justice issues affect rural residents and how federal, state, and local policies can support rural areas. Resources to engage elected officials and tactics organizations can use to advocate for environmental resources and support in rural and remote communities will be highlighted.
  • Building a Coalition for Environmental Justice (Thursday, Oct. 24)
    Using a case study from the Climate + Energy Project to demonstrate how engaging a broad spectrum of community stakeholders enhances the impact of environmental justice initiatives. You will learn the fundamentals of identifying and building relationships with aligned individuals and organizations and tips for structuring partnerships for lasting impact.
