My work involves making data more accessible to those who need it and continually evaluating systems for usefulness and improvement opportunities. Over the years, I've worked with many nonprofit organizations, both as a staff employee and consultant. I was introduced to the Center by a former Center employee I had worked with in a prior role. After developing a deeper understanding of the Center's work, I was eager to get involved.
Much of my work involves helping people see the benefits of change. I really enjoy finding solutions to problems and implementing better ways to do things.
I grew up on a small farm near a rural community in Nebraska. In many ways, the life I experienced back then shaped who I am today. Although I spent roughly 20 years living in Omaha, I felt compelled to move back to a rural community when my daughter was born. There are so many valuable experiences to be had. I wish everyone had the opportunity to live rural, at least for a while.
Q&A
Do you have any hidden talents?
My wife and daughter call me the Cat Whisperer. We have barn cats and for whatever reason, they seem to favor me. Perhaps it's the occasional sardines. ;-)
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go, and why?
It's not glamorous, but it's been on my bucket list for a while: Dillsburg, Pennsylvania. The town is named for Captain Matthew Dill, an immigrant (and my distant relative) from County Monaghan, Ireland, who settled the town in 1740.
What (or who) inspires you?
My wife, Michelle, and my daughter, Ali.
