Beatrice, NE -  The Center for Rural Affairs Women’s Business Center in collaboration with Gage Area Growth Enterprise (NGage) is planning a five-week Business Plan Basics course starting March 1, 2016.  The course will be held on Tuesday evenings in March from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Carnegie Building Conference Room in Beatrice.

The workshop series includes the following key topics: Marketing, Promotion/Advertising, Financial Management, Customer Relations and Goal Setting. The Center collaborates with the University of Nebraska EDGE Program in utilizing the NxLevel Micro-Entrepreneurs curriculum called "Business Plan Basics."

"Planning is a key to success in business, and the five hands-on exploratory sessions are designed for those thinking of starting a business and for small business owners that want to create a business plan or update one.  Sessions will cover important information that can assist in completing a business plan," commented Monica Braun, Center for Rural Affairs Women’s Business Center director.

Previous Business Plan Basics participants have said this about the workshops: "So informative for starting a business. Covers all aspects!" "The best parts were the conversations, networking and best practices shared!" "Information on Product and Price was the most helpful to me." "Recordkeeping information was what I found most helpful."

A registration fee per business is required for the course and includes the course materials and other resource materials. The deadline to register is Tuesday, Feb. 22.

The Center provides lending, training, networking, and technical assistance opportunities for start-up and existing small businesses.

The Center receives funding from the Nebraska Business and Innovation Act, Community Development Block Grants through the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, Small Business Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Peter Kiewit Foundation and other sources. The WBC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. Support for this program was made possible through a grant from the Lincoln Community Foundation on behalf of the Alice M. Dittman Advised Fund. The Center is a resource partner of NGage.
