WALTHILL, NEBRASKA – Handmade jewelry, shawls, crafts, and beadwork made by members of the Omaha Tribe are among items available at the fifth annual Christmas Bazaar on Friday, Nov. 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The event, at the Walthill Fire Hall, 121 Main St., Walthill, Nebraska, is organized by the Center for Rural Affairs and Nebraska Indian Community College.

Along with the handmade items, vendors will sell jams, jellies, salsas, pickles, and other food items.

“Check out one of the most unique holiday shopping experiences you'll find in northeast Nebraska,” said Suzi French, community food associate with the Center for Rural Affairs. “Bring your appetite and try corn soup made with locally grown, traditional corn, paired with fry bread.”

There will be door prize drawings every half hour from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Christmas Bazaar is part of an effort by the Center for Rural Affairs to increase income opportunities for Omaha Tribal members who grow food or create artwork through local markets and community gardens in Walthill and Macy. Many of the vendors who appeared at farmers markets during the growing season will sell goods at the event.
