MALVERN, IOWA—Food leaders and community members in the Malvern area who are curious about the sustainability of local foods are invited to join a listening session hosted by the Center for Rural Affairs and Golden Hills RC&D.

This Local Foods Listening Session is a facilitated discussion. The event will occur Thursday, Nov. 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Art Church, 201 E. Fourth St.

“We are hoping to engage community members to create a robust and healthy landscape for local foods,” said Deborah Solie, project associate with the Center. “Community input is essential. The listening session will provide residents with an opportunity to share their ideas on how to best serve the people in need of food assistance and increase access to fresh, healthy foods.”

Community members are encouraged to share their thoughts and concerns about food insecurity in the community, access to local foods, what’s working well, what’s challenging, and more.
