LYONS, NEBRASKA – The Center for Rural Affairs has chosen Danelle Nutt of Ravenna, Nebraska, to receive the 2018 Women’s Business Center Entrepreneur Award. She will be recognized at an award ceremony on March 8 in York, Nebraska.

The Women’s Business Center Entrepreneur Award is presented annually to an individual or individuals who have utilized the Center for Rural Affairs Women’s Business Center services and are successfully operating and growing their business. The award exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit so crucial to women-owned businesses and the rural Nebraska communities they call home.

Nutt is the owner and operator of Nutt Family Jams and Jellies, which she started in 2010. The jams and jellies are homemade using fruits and vegetables grown on their acreage outside Ravenna. The products are made and packaged in Kearney.

The owner approached the Center for Rural Affairs in 2018 for one-on-one technical assistance and financing to help with product labeling and packaging.

“Danelle is very deserving of the Women’s Business Center Entrepreneur Award,” said Craig Eberle, loan assistant with the Center for Rural Affairs. “She has developed a product that is growing in popularity, and with the new labeling, this will hopefully allow her to expand reach and get the products into more stores throughout Nebraska.”

In addition to the business, Nutt works with her husband, Joshua, on their family farm. The operation includes cattle and row crops, as well as fruits and vegetables. During the summer they sell and deliver produce baskets to the Ravenna, Pleasanton, and Kearney areas. The couple has three children, Bailey, Gunner, and Charlie.
