GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA – Joseline Reyna and Khushi Steichen have recently been hired to serve central and western Nebraska as Center for Rural Affairs loan specialists.

They work with new and existing small business owners to help them develop business plans, obtain funding, and receive training. The one-on-one business counseling is provided at no cost. They also work with new and existing homeowners to buy homes, complete owner-occupied rehabilitation or renovation, or make emergency repairs to properties.

Reyna brings seven years of nonprofit experience to the Center, having worked with organizations specifically advocating on behalf of the immigrant and refugee community. She also runs a small business with her husband.

“I’ve always had a passion for helping others and giving back to my community, and I want to be able to continue to give back in a different way and support those who need our help with their home and business,” Reyna said. “Working with those individuals and being able to help them through the process allows me to share my knowledge and experience with them.”

Steichen brings banking and lending experience to the Center, working in the field since she was 17. She has held positions as a mortgage loan funder, loan processor, mortgage loan originator, and loan officer.

“The Center's goals and mission mean a lot to me,” Steichen said. “My whole family is full of entrepreneurs and after coming to the U.S. from India in 2007, my family struggled quite a bit as they did not know about the resources available. Now, I like to think I am helping families and dreams similar to ours.”

Andi McClintic, Lending Services assistant director for the Center, says Reyna and Steichen are valuable assets to the team.

“Joseline and Khushi both bring a wealth of knowledge to the Center,” McClintic said. “Joseline has a strong network, having started her own business and having previously worked with Leadership Unlimited in Hall County and the Immigrant Legal Center. Khushi’s years of experience being a lender for another microlender and with a traditional bank are incredibly beneficial. We’re excited to have them join the Center team.”
