Small business trainings set for West Point

WEST POINT, NEBRASKA – Several free workshops are scheduled in July for local entrepreneurs and business owners in the West Point area. These events are sponsored by the Center for Rural Affairs and the John A. Stahl Library.

Each session is limited to 10 attendees, and will take place at the John A. Stahl Library, 330 N. Colfax, in West Point.

  • QuickBooks Basics: Tuesday, July 9, and Thursday, July 11, from 9 a.m. to noon (two-day course). Learn to create a company; work with customers, vendors, and banking; and run reports. Register by July 8.
  • Advanced QuickBooks: Tuesday, July 16, from 9 a.m. to noon. Customize templates; filter reports; work with assets and loans; and review payroll. Register by July 15.
  • Advanced Excel: Thursday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to noon. Better your knowledge of formulas; learn quick tips and tricks to be more efficient; link cells; group worksheets; and chart. Register by July 17.

“Keeping good records is vital to the success of an entrepreneur’s business,” said Kim Preston, Center for Rural Affairs Women’s Business Center director. “You can manage your costs; or just collect, store, and analyze your data in a timely manner. That helps cash flow and viability.”

Diann Ballard from db-Consulting, LLC, of Pender, Nebraska, will instruct the course. The use of laptops and software will be provided.
