I was born in Lafayette Indiana, and grew up across the river in West Lafayette for the next 22 years. I graduated from Purdue University in 2020 with a degree in agricultural economics. Soon after, I moved to Waterloo, Iowa, for a position in the University of Iowa’s Local Food Program as an AmeriCorps Vista.
My family has deep roots in north central Indiana, mainly in Fulton and Carroll counties. My mom’s side owns a farm that has been in the family for more than 150 years. Growing up, I spent many weekends on that farm doing various chores and learning about biology from my grandfather. I firmly believe that was a catalyst for what motivates me in what I do today. I know I will always have that farm in mind and the value it holds in my family while working at the Center for Rural Affairs.
Outside of work I stay active through cycling, hiking, Ultimate Frisbee, or disc golf. I also love cooking, which can sometimes result in my evening being consumed by an overly-complicated recipe I wanted to try. I am a third generation Purdue graduate, which results in me being a passionate Boilermaker fan in any sport.
