I was born and raised in a small town called Bucerias, Mexico. When I arrived in Grand Island, Nebraska, I found a friendly and inclusive community—a place that not only welcomes students, workers, and entrepreneurs, it’s also unique for being a place that is united by a set of ideas, no matter who you are, or where you’re from.
Becoming involved in my community has been one of my greatest experiences. The leadership qualities and memories I’ve made from volunteering have built my character for the future, and I will always feel the need to give back to my community.
Being a part of the Center team gives me the opportunity to continue giving back to communities like mine, and make a positive impact by spreading the Center’s principles of diversity and inclusion. I also get to meet and help people from diverse backgrounds and experience different situations, all while feeling positive about how my work can contribute to society.
My husband, Eduardo Borjas, and I have been married for 14 years, and we have three adventurous, lion-hearted boys. Our weekends typically go from soccer to basketball tournaments. We love to spend family time on road trips, camping, and doing pretty much any outdoor activity.
