Empowering women entrepreneurs to grow as business owners, professionals, and community leaders is the best part of my job. As the Women's Business Center director, I oversee the business development side of Lending Services at the Center. I get to provide entrepreneurs and business owners across Nebraska training and one-on-one business coaching to help them start, grow, and run a business.
I have been a business advocate since 2010 and worked at a financial institution for 11 years. Using the skills I learned as a personal banker, branch manager, and business banker has been key to continuing and growing the Women's Business Center’s work and meeting the needs of entrepreneurs and business owners. Neither could be done without the relationships, partnerships, and collaborations made across the state.
Rural America is where I grew up, where my family is growing up, and where I have been able to help others grow. Working alongside the Center’s passionate staff has allowed me to learn and live the mission of the organization and know that not only am I part of the team, I can also add to its value.
Q&A
Can you play any musical instruments? If not, is there one you wish you could play?
I played the saxophone when I was in school. I never really had a natural talent for it, but I loved hanging out with the band kids at band camps and in marching band.
What is one of your pet peeves?
Hearing people eat food; they should not make sounds while eating. An example would be bananas! No one needs to hear anyone eat a banana.
Would you rather be able to travel 50 years into the past or 50 years into the future, and why?
Neither! I love living in the moment.
