COLUMBUS, NEBRASKA – Karina Perez, of Columbus, Nebraska, has been appointed to the Center for Rural Affairs Board of Directors.
The Center for Rural Affairs is a private, nonprofit organization working to strengthen small businesses, family farms and ranches, and rural communities through action-oriented programs addressing social, economic, and environmental issues.
“Karina is passionate about a thriving rural America and helping new immigrants become full participants in their communities,” said Brian Depew, executive director of the Center for Rural Affairs. “We look forward to her experience and knowledge on our Board of Directors.”
“I wanted to get involved because the Center's work aligns with my personal life,” Perez said. “The organization advocates for those who are underserved and underrepresented in rural Nebraska communities.”
She has served as the executive director of Centro Hispano for the past four years, collaborating with the Center on several projects. Both nonprofits share similar objectives, fostering inclusion in communities.
“To me, the mission of the Center means that our rural communities are moving forward; taking the lead, with guidance from the Center, on the values that mean most to them,” she said. “I hope to see the Center continue to flourish and continue to adapt to our ever-changing needs for our rural communities. I look forward to collaborating and helping move forward the mission of the Center across rural Nebraska.”
Perez is serving a three-year term on the Center for Rural Affairs Board of Directors.
